Most people give the homeless change or leftovers, Mark Bustos is cutting their hair
For the past few months, New York City hairstylist Mark Bustos — who normally spends his days working at an upscale salon — has been volunteering on his days off to offer haircuts to homeless people he sees on the street. With a simple phrase, “I want to do something nice for you today,” he has been helping people get a fresh, uplifting makeover.
For people who have been trapped in a cycle of poverty, unemployment and homelessness, the makeover can also serve a useful function: looking presentable for a job.I just began crying. This is beautiful.

Hi, I can’t really tell you your hair type is through the inter-web, but if it’s shrinking that much, I’m guessing it’s 4c as this hair type tends to shrink 75% when it’s derided after a wash.
Shrinkage does not mean that you lost your length it’s still there. This is just the nature of your hair & to make it easier on u you can either accept it or work with it instead of against it because hair will do what hair wants to do.
Anyway to minimize the shrinkage try the following tips:-)
1)prior to washing , pre-poo with a penetrating oil like coconut , it will control the amount of water that your hair socks up & cause shrinkage.
2) follow with sectioning your hair into 6-10 sections then loosely braid or twist them. This will prevent hair from fully coiling & tangling once it’s in contact with water. Hair is weak when wet so please be careful when shampooing.
3)always follow shampoo with conditioner to replace lost moisture & to soften hair. Use creamy hair conditioners to help weigh “hang” your hair down & thus creating less shrinkage.
4) after washing, dry with a white cotton shirt instead of a heavy towel. You can also squeeze out the excess water using your fingers. Then detangle using your fingers or a wide toothed comb if you still have tangles in hair.
5) follow with a leave in conditioner, cream & oil to seal in moisture.
Practice heat free methods like roller setting or flexi rods, curl formers, Bantu knots or braid/ twist. Do them when hair is damp then undo when it’s dry. ( best to do them at night & undo in the morning). Apply an anti shrinkage serum spray as well to control shrinkage.
At night, practice protective styles & either sleep on a satin pillow case or wear a satin bonnet. Remember to always work with your shrinkage using these simple methods & before you know it,you will have your hair under control:-)
